Laboratory technician Plasmodium vivax
Departement of Parasitology – Unit of Epidemiology and Control of Parasitic Diseases
The position is linked to a project on the study of Plasmodium vivax biology. Briefly, the failure to achieve continuous culture of P. vivax has seriously limited its control and specific research activities.
The project will attempt to produce a reliable and reproducible in vitro P. vivax cycle.

Job description

• you will participate to the set up of a continuous culture of P. vivax blood stage and will produce viable gametocytes.

Profile

• You have a Bachelor degree in laboratory technician, in biology or related fields.
• You have experience in cell culture. Knowledge in hematology or parasitology is an advantage.
• You are well organized and are able to work independently. You can also work in a team.
• You have a good knowledge of English, Dutch and French, or you are prepared to acquire it.
• You feel comfortable with the objectives and activities of the Institute of Tropical Medicine.
